Abstract
We study the electronic energy band structure of a class of one-dimens ional generalized Fibonacci lattices in the transfer model. We show th at the energy spectrum has more complicated splitting behavior than th e one Fu et al. [Phys. Rev. B 51, 3910 (1995)] have argued; the spectr um consists of subbands that split into either two or three or five su b-subbands as well as the subband that remains continuous as the hiera rchy of the lattice system increases.
