Aj. Rest et al., ASSIGNMENT OF THE OVERTONES AND COMBINATION BANDS FOR LIQUID METHANE ACROSS THE NEAR-INFRARED SPECTRUM, SPECT ACT A, 52(11), 1996, pp. 1455-1463
The near infrared spectrum of liquid methane has been obtained over th
e frequency range 3000-15 000 cm(-1) using a cryostat cell capable of
in situ liquification of methane gas. Pathlengths of 3 mm and 62 mm ha
ve enabled the overtones and combinations of the second, third, fourth
and fifth harmonics of the fundamental absorptions to be observed. Fr
om the cited literature of observed and predicted gas phase data, an a
ssignment of the overtones and combination bands of liquid methane is
reported.
