The negative electrodes of an experimental sealed battery (AA size, 1A
h capacity) were made from a multicomponent alloy (Mm(0.95)Ti(0.05)Ni(
3.85)Co(0.45)Mn(0.35)Al(0.35)) powder coated with 10 wt% nickel, polyt
etrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and nickel powder. The Ohmic resistivity of
the electrode increases with increasing PTFE content. The average disc
harge voltage of the battery decreases with increasing discharge curre
nt and increases marginally with increasing temperature. The overpoten
tial of the negative electrode decreases with increasing temperature.
