W. Dammertz et H. Paulus, QUANTITATIVE TLC FOR QUALITY-CONTROL OF DRUGS STORED LONG-TERM BY THEGERMAN FEDERAL ARMED-FORCES MEDICAL-SERVICE, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 8(4), 1995, pp. 314-318
The supply of drugs to an army in action is extremely important, and a
sufficient quantity of these drugs must, therefore, be stocked in med
ical depots. According to German drug law, the FAF Medical Service is
responsible for ensuring the quality of these drugs. The analysis of c
hloramphenicol-monosuccinate and gentamycin is presented as an example
of the use of quantitative TLC for quality control both of freshly pr
oduced drugs and those stored long-term. In order to increase the effe
ctiveness of the drug quality assurance system of the FAF Medical Serv
ice, screening methods, mainly employing TLC, were developed for the a
nalysis of formulated drugs in medical depots. The test design and met
hod development are also presented.
