RUBICUNOSIDE-B, RUBICUNOSIDE-C, RUBICUNOS IDE-D - 3 NEW TRITERPENOID SAPONINS WITH ACETYLATED SACCHARIDES FROM SILENE RUBICUNDA

Three new triterpenoid saponins with acetylated saccharides, named rub icunosides B(2),C(3),D(4), were isolated from the roots of Silene rubi cunda and characterized on the basis of spectral evidence as -D-galact opyranosyl-(1-->2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl- (1-->3)]-beta-D-glucuronopyr anosyl quillaic acid 28-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->3)-beta-D ranosyl- (1-->4')-beta-D-quinovopyranosyl-(1-->2)]- [3'-OAc]-beta-D-fucopyranos ide (2), 3-O-beta opyranosyl-(1-->2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->3)]- b eta-D-glucuronopyranosyl quillaic acid a-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->4)-alpha -L-rhamnopyranosyl- (1-->4)-[4 ''-OAc-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->2)]- beta-D-fucopyranoside (3), and -D-galactopyranosyl-(1-->2)-[beta-D-xyl opyranosyl- (1-->3)]-[6'-O-n-butyl]-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl quillaic acid 28-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl ranosyl-(1-->4)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosy l-(1-->4)-[2 '' -beta-D-quinovopyranosyl-(1-->2)]-[3'-OAc]-beta-D- fuc opyranoside (4), respectively.
