Abstract
A fixed-tuned superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) receiver h as been designed to operate in the 250-350-GHz frequency band, This re ceiver has a double-side-band noise temperature of between 35 and 45 K , or about 3hv/k(B), over its entire operating band, Extensive charact erization of the receiver has been carried out using techniques develo ped for submillimeter waves. The input noise, side-band ratio, 1 dB co mpression point, optimum LO drive level, and vector near-field beam pr ofile have all been measured experimentally, The measurement technique s and results are presented and discussed.
