Abstract
Summ: European regulations and a law regulating working hours of the F ederal Republic of Germany require change in planning and pay of on-ca ll commitments (free time/pay), At the same time, effective organizati on of work is mandatory, We present computerized means of organizing a nd remunerating work, that considers personal preferences of 40 collea gues regarding free time/pay as well as legal requirements. Descriptio n: The modular ''OPEN ACCESS'' (SPI) with a program language of its ow n forms the basis of our own-written software. The program works out a monthly rota (6 colleagues on call daily), taking into account prefer ences of each colleague as well as the time already worked, e,g. weeke nds on call, The centrepiece of the program is the free time/pay modul e, which gives each colleague the chance to book the desired number of worked hours on call on his free account on a monthly basis, This tim e-off account can be used as wished (via a days-off-plan) and the requ irements of our decentralized working department are met. The demands of the law regarding working hours can be fulfilled, Another module ta kes care of professional leave and other contractual days off, This fl exibility requires a daily distribution of all colleagues, the program already having rostered calls, professional leave and planned days of f, Every month 30% of on call time is remunerated in time off. The pro gramme searches the data and adds up the work done, Considering wishes regarding free time/pay for every colleague, the number of remunerate d hours is derived and handed over to the financial department, Hours that are not remunerated are added to the free-account, According to t he distribution plan the program withdraws time from the free account, Finally, an overview will be printed for every colleague. The program also produces tables explaining remuneration. The program has been us ed since 1991 in our department and is running well, The requirements of the law can be met by taking time off after certain calls with a he avy work load, For considering all the factors involved in larger depa rtments computerization is a prerequisite.
