According to the Hendrickson paradigm of intelligence (Hendrickson & H
endrickson, 1980, 1982) it is expected that the string and the amplitu
de measures of averaged evoked potentials are positively correlated wi
th IQ. However, attempts to replicate the Hendricksons' experiments sh
ow that these correlations are sometimes significantly positive, somet
imes significantly negative, and sometimes not significant It is sugge
sted that these variable results may be explained by the paradigm of H
aier et al. (1988, 1992) according to which intelligent brains consume
less energy, by the difference in the consumption of energy by left-h
emispheric and right-hemispheric brains, and by hemisphericity-related
individual differences in the conducticity of the corpus callosum.
