Abstract
The crystal structure and magnetic properties of Sm2Fe17Siy, Sm(2)Fe(1 7-x)M(x) (M = Si, Al) and Sm2Fe17-xAlxCy for y less than or equal to 2 and x < 4 were investigated. It was found that increasing the Al or S i concentration causes a rise in the Curie temperature and a decrease in the magnetic moment. Compounds with Al and Si with x > 3 and Sm2Fe1 7-xAlxCy exhibit axial anisotropy at room temperature.
