A pendulum magnetometer has been constructed, which allows the measure
ment of the magnetisation of relatively large amounts of Nd-Fe-B-type
material (less than or equal to 3 g) both in the ferromagnetic and par
amagnetic state under vacuum, or in a hydrogen atmosphere over a tempe
rature range from room temperature to 900 degrees C. In-situ measureme
nts of the hydrogenation of RE-Fe-B type alloys can be carried out and
the change in magnetisation during this processing step can be invest
igated.
