Jm. Alves et Am. Vallera, MAGNETIC EFFECTS IN TRANSVERSE ELASTIC-CONSTANTS OF BCC FE(SI), Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 158, 1996, pp. 378-380
We report measurements of the transverse elastic constants C' = (C-11
- C-12)/2 and C-44 of Fe(Si) single crystals from room temperature to
T/T-C congruent to 1.2 obtained from ultrasonic velocities determined
by a pulse superposition method. Results are interpreted assuming that
the elastic constants are the sum of an intrinsic magnetic contributi
on, proportional to the near-neighbour magnetic correlation function,
and a 'non-magnetic' contribution (including indirect magnetostrictive
contributions), approximated by a function of the lattice parameter o
nly.
