Abstract
The specific heat of CuSO4(H2O)(2)(C2H8N2) (I) and Cu(C10H8N2)(2)Ag-2( CN)(4) . H2O (II) was measured in the temperature range 75 mK to 8 K. Observed deviations from the assumed one-dimensional behaviour are cau sed by hydrogen bonds and dipolar forces. Compound I was classified as S = 1/2 quadratic AF Heisenberg system with J/k = -1.15 K, and in com pound II the influence of short-range order is overlapped by dipolar i nteractions, leading to the onset of long-range order observed at 81 /- 2 mK.
