Abstract
The pseudobinary series (FexMn1-x)Si shows a transition from an insula tor for x = 1 to a metallic state with long range magnetic order at th e Mn-rich side. This behaviour can be attributed to the shift of the F ermi energy across a narrow gap into a region of high density of state s.
