A. Barraganvidal et al., ANALYSIS OF A VERY ROUGH SAMPLE BY ACCELERATOR TECHNIQUES, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 117(3), 1996, pp. 304-310
The results of a study of various surfaces formed from arrangements of
100 compacted razor blades are presented. The analysis was performed
by means of RES and the samples were characterized using microscopic t
echniques. Several surfaces were considered, one containing Pt traces
on the blade edges, another without this clement and a third, also wit
hout Pt, but well oxidized. The surfaces were bombarded with protons o
f energies of hundreds of keV and of a few MeV. An analysis was also p
erformed with helium ions of several MeV energy. From the experimental
results, knowledge of some topographical characteristics of the model
s was obtained. With an increase in ion energy some trace impurities w
ere detected and with helium ions an inhomogeneous distribution of the
Pt was observed.
