Abstract
PIXE analysis has been performed on a set of furnace rejects from arch aeological excavations in the Ligurian towns of Savona and Albissola a nd on some finished objects from the Mediterranean area. The results s how statistically significant differences between the various pottery productions examined, that can be used for the investigation of proven ance. A specific case is debated in connection with historical documen ts and previous controversial provenance studies.
