Abstract
Synchronous wave number-shift scanning of a Nd:YAG pumped dye laser an d the detection monochromator for a coherent Stokes Raman scattering ( CSRS) system were realized using an inexpensive analog to digital boar d. With this improvement the CSRS spectrometer may be used to scan ove r a large wave number shift range and/or may be used at relatively hig h resolution using a photomultiplier tube as the detector. This is esp ecially useful in the probing of luminous systems. (C) 1996 American I nstitute of Physics.
