Abstract
This paper presents a structural solution to the bursting phenomena in adaptive hybrids. An algorithm-independent burst-free adaptive echo c anceler is developed by introducing a stand-by adaptive filter in a si ngle adaptive hybrid system. The purpose of this filter is to cancel o ut the pole(s) of the closed-loop characteristic equation, which, gene rally, lead to the bursting phenomena in adaptive systems with feedbac k. Several simulations examples are presented iii this paper to demons trate the superiority of the new configuration under the different con ditions that would normally cause bursting, including practical situat ions where we have actual speech signals.
