Abstract
In a preliminary study, 38 preserved human homologous saphenous vein g rafts were used for secondary vascular access in 36 chronic hemodialys is patients, Cumulative one-year patency was 67%. Twelve grafts failed , 10 owing to thrombosis and 2 owing to infection, Overall complicatio n rate, morbidity, and patency were compatible with the other availabl e graft materials. A prospective randomized trial of Varivas graft aga inst PTFE has been instigated.
