Abstract
Vacuum Microelectronics have recently known a large interest due, in p articular, to the development of the Field Emission Display industry. In this paper we review the different activities in Europe concerning flat displays, emissive materials, theoretical investigations, instrum ents, sensors, and microwave generation. More fundamental research abo ut miniature electron optics are also presented.
