THERMOSENSITIVE HYDROGEL FROM N-ISOPROPYL METHACRYLAMIDE

N-Isopropylmethacrylamide (NIPM) was prepared from methacrylonitrile a nd isopropanol. The polymeization of NIPM in different solvents using ammonium persulfate -N, N,N',N'-tetramethylethylene diamine as the ini tiator and N,N'-methylene-bisacrylamide as crosslinking agent has been studied. The results show that the hydrogels from NIPM-MBA or NIPM-MB A- ionic monomers possesses thermosensitive properties. The swelling r atios of hydrogels at different temperatures were determined.
