J. Tiggesbaumker et al., STATIC POLARIZABILITIES OF CHARGED SILVER METAL-CLUSTERS EXTRACTED FROM THE OPTICAL-SPECTRA, Surface review and letters, 3(1), 1996, pp. 509-513
The use of sum rules appears to be a powerful tool for obtaining exper
imental data on static properties of charged metal clusters which are
currently not available. For this purpose the optical spectra of the c
lusters must be known. The measured absorption profiles or sputtered,
i.e. hot, Ag-N(+) and Ag-N(-) which have been measured in our group gi
ve information about the desired properties. The extracted static pola
rizabilities show a distinct shell structure which reflects the overal
l electronic shape of the cluster. A comparison is made with Ag-N and
positive alkali metal clusters. The polarizabilities of closed-shell A
g-N(+) and Ag-N(-) are in reasonable agreement with SIC-LDA corrected
RPA polarizabilities.
