Y. Kawada et al., APPLICATION OF A SINGLE-ACCELERATING TOF METHOD TO COLLISION EXPERIMENTS OF CLUSTER IONS WITH SOLID-SURFACES, Surface review and letters, 3(1), 1996, pp. 869-873
A time-of-flight mass spectrometer of a non-Wiley-McLaren type, employ
ing a single-acceleration method, was modified for collision experimen
t of cluster ions with solid surfaces. The intrinsic peak shape in the
collision-induced electron-detachment-yield curve was determined by i
mprovement in the energy spread of collided ions. A detailed experimen
tal procedure is presented and the electron-detachment process resulti
ng from low-energy collision is discussed.
