Abstract
Fragmentation in gold clusters was for the first time observed by the time-resolved high-resolution transmission electron microscopy at 0.2- nm spatial resolution and 1/60 s time resolution. A gold cluster of ab out 1.5-nm diameter made asymmetrical fragmentation on a magnesium oxi de (001) surface. It was suggested that the present fragmentation proc ess was Similar to the Coulomb explosion process.
