Abstract
Some antimony(III) derivatives of phthalanilic and maleanilic acids of the type [L]Sb-3 and [L]SbSCH2CH2S (where L=phthalanilate and maleani late anions] have been synthesised by the reactions of antimony trichl oride and 2-chloro-1, 3-dithia-2-stibacyclopentane, each, with phthala nilic and maleanilic acids in 1:3 and 1:1 molar ratios respectively in refluxing acetonitrile. Alternatively, these derivatives have also be en synthesised by refluxing antimony trichloride and 2-chloro-1, 3-dit hia-2-stibacyclopentane, each, with sodium phthalanilate and sodium ma leanilate (prepared in situ by the reaction of sodium methoxide with p hthalanilic and maleanilic acid in methanol) in 1:3 and 1:1 molar rati os respectively in methanol. These derivatives are characterised by el emental analysis, as well as IR and H-1 NMR spectral studies.
