Abstract
It is demonstrated for the first time that mixed (NH4)(c)K(1-c)X (X = 1, Br) salts, prepared from aqueous solutions, can maintain a spin-tem perature inversion. The spin-temperature relaxation in these salts can be followed by inelastic neutron scattering spectroscopy. It is shown that both the mixed salts (I, Br) relax at similar rates and these ra tes increase with temperature, following an approximately T-3 variatio n. This is discussed in the context of other work on these salts.
