The Fe3N powders directly prepared by nitridation of gamma-Fe2O3 in a
mixed stream of hydrogen-ammonia have been investigated by X-ray diffr
action, transmission electron microscopy, and magnetic measurements. T
he results show that the prepared powder is in a single phase of epsil
on-Fe3N which coercive force and saturation magnetization are 540 Oe a
nd 135 emu/g, respectively, as well as the remanence ratio sigma(r)/si
gma(s) of 0.37.
