Abstract
Magnetic aftereffect studies as well as in-situ domain observation are performed on gamma-Fe/Cu(001) films, providing the Barkhausen volume values for these samples. On the basis of comparative STM studies we p ropose the structural origin of the Barkhausen volume to be related to the atomic terraces of the Cu(001) substrate.
