A recently developed renormalized strong coupling expansion [E. J. Wen
iger, Ann. Phys. (N.Y.) 246, 133 (1996)] is employed to compute the co
efficients of the standard strong coupling expansion for the ground st
ate energy of the quartic, sextic, and octic anharmonic oscillator. Th
is approach is very simple, both conceptually and technically, and pro
duces more accurate results than previously used techniques which were
in most cases applied to the quartic case only.
