Cold neutron radiography (CNR) was applied to study the lithium ion mo
vement in the spinel-type structured oxide of Li1.33Ti1.67O4. The lith
ium ion distribution profiles were obtained from a set of NR images of
the electrolyzed oxides having different Li-6/Li-7 ratios. They showe
d that the lithium ion transport number of the oxide is 0.91, which al
most coincided with the value derived from the EMF measurement of an o
xygen gas concentration cell. Furthermore, they showed that the lithiu
m ion conduction was almost equally attributed to lithium ions in the
tetrahedral A-sites as well as in the octahedral B-sites.
