Nn. Hamel et al., LITHIUM-SALTS OF SF5 ALKYLSULFONIC ACIDS - SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND CONDUCTIVITY, Journal of fluorine chemistry, 79(1), 1996, pp. 81-86
The lithium sulfonates, SF5CFHSO3Li (1) and SF5CF2SO3Li (2), were prep
ared by reaction of the corresponding sulfonyl fluorides SF(5)CFXSO(2)
F (X = H or F) with lithium hydroxide. The product identities were con
firmed by IR and NMR spectroscopies, MS and elemental analysis, and th
e thermal stabilities were determined via DSC and TGA. The poly (ethyl
ene oxide) (PEG) -saltcomplexes, PEO(x)LiSO(3)CFHSF(5) (3), were prepa
red for x=2 to 16 (where x=O/Li mole ratio) and the bulk conductivitie
s measured between 40 degrees C and 120 degrees C. Unlike the PEO(x)Li
SO(3)CF(2)SF(5) (4) complexes, thermal and conductivity measurements d
o not indicate a plasticizing effect for these complexes; these observ
ations are discussed in terms of hydrogen bonding between SF5CFHSO3- a
nions.
