Abstract
TiO2 acts as a site-selective photocatalyst for sulphur compounds cont aining S or SO2 and COOH groups in redox reactions. While phenylacetic and phenoxyacetic acids undergo oxidative decarboxylation on irradiat ed TiO2, arylthioacetic acids are oxidized to the corresponding sulphi nylacetic acids. Arylsulphonylacetic acids undergo photoinduced reduct ion with retention of carboxyl group.
