Generalized transmission lines whose differential section contains eit
her an additional series capacitance or parallel inductance arise in t
he analysis of layered structures when the source and the field are de
composed in TE and TM parts. Basic properties of such transmission lin
es are studied in the time domain. The differential equations for the
voltage and current are of the Klein-Gordon form and known solutions a
re applied to find voltage and current quantities due to sources on th
e infinite line. As an example, reflection from a capacitive terminati
on is solved in terms of image sources, which for a point source compr
ises a point source and an exponentially distributed source.
