The structure of Siilinjarvi apatite and its thermal properties, its d
ecomposition in the mixture with H3PO4 and nepheline or shungite at ca
lcination up to 1400 degrees C, the phase composition and the solubili
ty of the calcined product in 2% citric acid solution have been studie
d by chemical, IR and XRD analyses. A comparison of thermal processing
of Kovdor apatite and Siilinjarvi apatite is presented. A product con
taining 98.8% citrate soluble P2O5 of the total P2O5 content (38%) fro
m Siilinjarvi apatite concentrate was obtained.
