Ap. Paiva et M. Lemaire, NMR FOR THE DETERMINATION OF LIGAND-METAL RATIOS IN SOLVENT-EXTRACTION, Separation science and technology, 31(19), 1996, pp. 2599-2609
In addition to the more conventional methods used in hydrometallurgy t
o determine the stoichiometry of ligand-metal species formed in solven
t extraction, a few research efforts have been done to establish some
spectroscopic techniques which call provide that information ''in situ
.'' In this work, nuclear magnetic resonance is used to confirm the Cy
anex 471X-silver ratio when the metal is extracted from a concentrated
chloride medium on the basis of the ''coordination shift'' detected i
n some nucleus of the organic ligand upon complexation. The same appro
ach has also been applied successfully to estimation of the compositio
n of triphenylphosphine-silver chloride species synthesized in one pha
se.
