We present the technique of laparoscopic sutured rectopexy as performe
d in three patients (all female; aged 89, 78 and 67 years) with full-t
hickness rectal prolapse. Two of the three patients were incontinent o
f solid stool preoperatively and were continent of solids and liquids
at 6 months follow up. The median number of pre-rectopexy daily bowel
movements was 2 (range 1-4), and at 6 months follow up following surge
ry, this was 1. There were no recurrences at the time of follow up.
