Abstract
In general risk analyses for multi-purpose and multi-product plants fo cus mainly on the identification of hazardous situations and fewer eff orts are made to model the possible release scenarios. This present pa per deals specifically with system modelling and evaluation of the pro bability of release scenarios within these types of plant. A graphical ly oriented method, 'Graphical System Modelling (GSM)', was developed. It shows the logical connections of a release scenario and clarifies where weak points of the analysed system are to be found. This method is not in competition with risk analysis methods commonly used in the field, but is an additional tool to present the complete release scena rio in a graphical form, taking into account all the logical connectio ns.
