TOPOLOGY AND SYMMETRY IN ATOM RINGS, CLUSTERS AND COMPLEXES

The degeneracies of energy eigenstates of the normal-modes of vibratio n and of the group orbitals are generally treated within the disciplin es of quantum mechanics and group theory. It is shown how such degener acies of ring and cluster molecules of sulphur, phosphorus, selenium a nd tellurium as well as the ir's of the group orbitals of homoligand c omplexes can be dealt with topologically, That topology and symmetry i n such molecules mutually help each other is also emphasised.
