Abstract
Infection by Ehrlichia species in Venezuela is predominantly platelet specific. Our data are based on the identification of morulae in blood smears from dogs and humans. We identified morulae in the platelets o f 112 blood smears. Physicians should be aware of infection by Ehrlich ia species and its clinical manifestations, including prolonged fever syndromes and idiopathic thrombocytopenias.
