Abstract
The formation of 4-methylthiazole from methylisopropylidenimine and SO 2 on acid-base catalysts has been studied. The most active catalysts a re those containing an acid-base pair: a weak Lewis site and a strong basic site. The catalysts containing only proton-donating sites are lo w-active.
