Abstract
The effect of olive oil mill waste water (OOW) amendment on leaching o f the herbicide clopyralid (3, 6-dichloropicolinic acid) in soil colum ns has been investigated. OOW amendment increased organic carbon conte nt of a soil and affected its porosity by reducing large pores (r > 10 mu m) and increasing small pores (r < 0. 1 mu m). This increase of no n-conducting pores by OOW amendment resulted in a reduction of herbici de leaching due to an increase of herbicide interaction with soil matr ix enhancing the adsorption and degradation processes.
