In spite of the advances made in the field of instrumentation, optics
and imaging, laparoscopic suturing and knot lying can sometimes be dif
ficult, frustrating and time-consuming. The simple technique of suturi
ng and knot tying devised by the author does not require any sophistic
ated equipment, but is accomplished by percutaneously suspending the n
eedle over the target area. The knot is formed by simple side to side
movements of the needle end across a relatively fixed vertical afferen
t limb of the suture.
