Abstract
The back-corona discharge has been successfully applied as a plasma so urce for decomposition of NO2 in the oxygen-free gas mixture of N-2:NO 2. The paper reports a first attempt to use back-corona discharge for noxious gas conversion. The preliminary results of laboratory experime nts in a needle-to-plate reactor show that the De-NOx processes in bac k-corona discharge are similar to the de streamer corona discharges ge nerated in the same geometry. Both types of discharges convert NO2 to nitrogen, oxygen and also to N2O and NO. However, back-corona discharg e produces less NO, and is more efficient energetically in NOx decompo sition than the de streamer corona discharge.
