Ya. Mikheev et al., ON STRUCTURAL EFFECTS AND ENTROPIC FACTOR OF BLENDING NONCRYSTALLINE - POLYMERS WITH LIQUIDS, International journal of polymeric materials, 33(3-4), 1996, pp. 157-166
The absence of spontaneous blending of an amorphous polymer with a liq
uid when their solubility parameters coincide is explained by specific
features of the polymer supermolecular skeleton. Such a process requi
res dissolving the structural skeleton and the availability of the suf
ficient entropic-donor activity of the Liquid. Lack of the above activ
ity rules out the spontaneous process. However, the possibility that t
he process will take place via an indirect pathways remains because of
the specific nature of supermolecular organization of polymer chains.
