Abstract
If the axial widths and heights of two rectangular waveguides are diff erent, a double taper is required to connect them. Here endeavour has been made to design a multimode rectangular waveguide taper varying bo th the width and height keeping the loss due to mode conversion, at hi gh input frequencies, to a minimum. It has been found that for the sam e power level between the main propagating and spurious modes the leng th of the taper thus designed is smaller than the lengths of the exist ing rectangular waveguide tapers available in the literature.
