The inclusion effects of cyclodextrins (CD) on the catalytic activity
of ylaminomethyl-1,7,7-trimethylnorboman-2-endo-amine (DTN) for the de
carboxylation of oxalacetate have been studied. It was found that beta
-CD, consisting of seven glucose units, showed a marked enhancement of
the catalytic activity of DTN by the inclusion, whereas alpha-CD show
ed neither inclusion nor enhancement, and gamma-CD showed the inclusio
n phenomenon, but only with small enhancement, These observations are
discussed in terms of the regulation of the DTN conformation by the in
clusion.
