FLUCTUATIONS OF CHARGE AND POTENTIAL AT T HE MEMBRANE-FRAGMENTS

Fluctations of charge and potential at membrane fragments due to ion a dsorption and desorption were estimated. In the case of Lengmour adsor ption the fluctuations increased with the Increase in ion concentratio n and, after passing the maximum decreased. At the maximum, the resipr ocal of the concentration was equal to the constant of ion binding to the membrtane surface. The fluctuation of the transmembrane potential difference was also calculated. The fluctuations of potential and char ge at the membrane fragment (5 mu m(2)) were estimated quantitatively.
