Abstract
Page's equation for the tensile strength of paper was used in an attem pt to establish the loss in bond shear strength for pulps that are dri ed and then reslushed. Unfortunately, there is uncertainty in this app lication of the equation because of the unknown effects of fiber defor mations occurring during drying and reslushing. Depending on the assum ptions made about the type and extent of fiber deformation, bond stren gth after drying and reslushing decreases somewhere between zero and 4 .6%. Implications are discussed for the application of the equation to situations in which unknown fiber deformations occur.
