Abstract
We report the design and performance of a pulse valve suitable for gen erating supersonically cooled clusters. The pulse valve uses a solenoi d for the opening mechanism and a rare earth magnet for the closing me chanism. The pulse valve is compact, robust and can effectively genera te large-sized clusters even for a moderate vacuum pump system.
