This paper describes a method that makes it possible to shorten the se
ries of operations involved in photometry and accordingly to reduce th
e error and increase the speed of obtaining the result of the photomet
ry. The essence of the method is to compare the microdensitometer trac
ings or transmittance dependences of two photographic prints, one of w
hich is obtained with an exposure half as great as that of the other.
