Variable temperature multidimensional NMR studies of [(R(3)P)(2)Rh(NHP
h)(2)](-) Li+ complexes enabled the detection of activation of one aro
matic ortho proton of each anilide ligand. This activation is not attr
ibutable to a C-H-0-Rh agostic interaction, but rather to interaction
with lithium, resulting from a short distance between the lithium atom
and one of the aromatic ortho hydrogens of each anilide ligand.
